Here at Stanton Motorsports our Chassis Dyno capacity is fairly impressive - we can hold, steady state over 500 rear wheel Hp steady state, this is approximately 570 flywheel Hp. (This reduces to around 450 flywheel Hp with a hot eddy current absorber.) On a sweep test we can record up to 1000 flywheel Hp.
The key to repeatability on a chassis Dyno is the ability to have no tyre slip, accurate weather data correction and powerful data logging. The last requirement is a skilled operator. At Stanton Motorsports we have all of these important factors.
Our rolling road has a large roller - 24” in diameter. The larger the roller diameter, the closer it approximates to a flat road surface. This provides huge traction and repeatability benefits when compared to more typical rollers of 8” or 12” diameter. We can run speeds up to 180 mph.

DYNOmite data-acquisition electronics automatically capture true torque, RPM, twin lambda, manifold pressure, blow-by meter, elapsed time, etc., while calculating Hp at 1000 readings per second. The advanced formula editor allows the creation of custom formula and calibrations, this allows us to run a true lambda sensor reading for cars running on Methanol, for instance.
Data logging at 1000hz, on all channels, and correcting Torque/Hp real time using weather data - air temp, barometric pressure and relative humidity, gives very repeatable results. The software can be set to automatically apply standard SAE weather correction factors to the HP and torque figures real time.
Our advanced Dynomax control software can hold steady state rpm, often needed for ECU mapping and tuning carburettors, or carry out sweep tests to collect all the data from the channels being used; for reviewing after the test. One of the many other software features that we can use is to accurately simulate true road loads, this can be very useful when focusing on the overall drivability of the car, whether it be on the latest ECU or a pre-war carburettor.
The recorded data can be displayed in a graphical format, or as numerical data in an excel spreadsheet, we can also provide overlays with previous runs. All our data is held on file to enable data comparisons from previous sessions.
